Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains which personal data is processed when you create a Rise of Banners account and play the game, the purpose and legal basis for that processing, with whom and under what conditions the data is shared, how long it is kept, and your rights as a data subject. This policy applies together with the Terms of Service.
1. Categories of data processed
1.1. Account data: lord name, email address, your preferred interface language, and the worlds you have joined.
1.2. Gameplay data: village layout and resource amounts, construction and gathering queues, troop movements, battle results, market transactions, banner membership, diplomacy status, and the commands you submit. This data is required for a world to function; without it, the game service cannot be provided.
1.3. Communication and public profile data: letters sent through the Lord's Office, banner chat where enabled, your lord description, and your uploaded portrait image. Profile fields you choose to publish can be viewed by other players.
1.4. Session and security data: your session information, used while you remain signed in and stored encrypted on the server, the cookies used for CSRF verification in the web client, your IP address, browser or app type, and request logs kept to prevent abuse and to diagnose errors.
1.5. Optional notification data: if you enable browser push notifications, the push address and keys provided by your browser, along with a short user-agent string, are stored. You may cancel this subscription at any time through the Lord Chamber.
2. Purposes of processing
2.1. Your data is processed to provide the game service, including login, map simulation, calculation of battle results, generation of reports, account verification, sending account-related notifications, and enforcement of the Community Conduct rules.
2.2. Depending on your notification preferences, in-game alerts such as incoming attacks or completed construction may be delivered to you via push notification or in-game notification.
2.3. Technical logs and, where enabled, crash reporting tools are used solely to diagnose crashes and performance issues. Your gameplay data is not used for ad targeting, and your personal data is never sold to advertisers.
2.4. De-identified aggregate statistics, such as the number of active lords on a world, may be used to assess the general health of the service.
3. Sharing of data
3.1. Your data is shared only with service providers who help us operate Rise of Banners. These include hosting providers, email delivery services, payment processors for Medallion purchases, and the browser push notification networks your device uses.
3.2. These service providers process data only under our instructions and solely for the tasks we assign to them.
3.3. We may disclose information where required by applicable law, or to protect the safety of players and to enforce the Terms of Service and the Community Conduct rules with the appropriate authorities.
3.4. Your email address is never disclosed to other players.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use HttpOnly session cookies to keep you signed in and a CSRF cookie to verify that changes originating from your browser are genuine. These cookies are required for the normal operation of the web client.
Local storage may be used to remember limited preferences, such as client language or map view, between visits.
You can clear your browser cookies at any time; you will then need to sign in again. Blocking essential cookies prevents the web client from working.
5. Retention period
Your account and gameplay data is retained for as long as your account is active and you are playing on a world.
If you stop playing or request account deletion, your personal data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period unless we are required to retain it for security, fraud prevention, payment dispute resolution, or other legal obligations.
Backup systems may retain deleted data for a short period until the backup cycle completes.
6. Your rights and contact
Depending on the law of your country, you may have various rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or transfer it, and to object to certain processing activities. If you submit such a request to us, we will respond within the period required by law.
You can update your email address and language preference through the Lord Chamber, change your notification settings there, and cancel your push notification subscription from the same place.
For privacy-related questions and requests, please submit a request through the support system on the site. To ensure we can match your request to the correct account, please include your lord name.
